Can I be honest for a second? My “muse” is missing, and has been for a couple weeks now. Translation: I feel, and have been feeling, as though I just don’t have anything to say, or at least nothing worth writing down to share with the world wide web. It’s lame; and it usually means I put off writing until late the night before, waiting for inspiration to strike, and then I usually settle on writing anything— just anything.
I know, I know. It’s not much of a system; and you would think I’d know better by now, wouldn’t you?
So to those of you who are still reading, and especially to those that write me emails, comments, or Facebook messages the day after a post telling me that it struck a chord, I really want to say thanks. I would have probably given up writing by now if it weren’t for you. (But also, let’s face it—anything profound you’re getting from these posts has way more to do with God working in you than with any intentions on my part!)
If this were a real blog post, I’d probably draw from all of this some sort of conclusion about the importance of friends, or of giving words of encouragement to those we meet, or even of the dangers of procrastination, spiritual laziness, or just laziness in general. But my muse is out for the night, so you’ll have to draw your own conclusions today 🙂
Oh! One final thing: I know that the email subscriptions still aren’t working for some reason and I have been getting your emails about that. I will assign myself the task of getting it fixed one way or another in the next week or so, but for now, any WordPress wizards feel free to contact me if you feel like lending a helping hand.
I’m in the same boat, so you are not alone in feeling wordless. Keep up the blog anyways, you’ll get inspired soon!
I am a 20 year old female college student and I have been reading your blog for about two months now. Every Tuesday and Thursday you lift my spirits with your insightful posts. We all have our “lull” days, but keep up the great work. Your influence is strong.
We had a workshop at the last Catholic Writer’s Conference about this very dilemma. Some solutions: host a guest post, do a link fest, book review, give-away, or series. And obviously, like you said, God works through you no matter what!
haha. Keep it up! 🙂
When I discovered your blog I recommended it to a few of my friends who all gave it positive reviews. They all liked your writing style and they felt that you got right down the essence of the issues that you wrote about. Based on the number of comments that you get, it seems like you have a pretty solid following. I’m sure that people wouldn’t follow your blog unless they found it helpful. Keep up the good work!
Don’t give up! I LOVE your posts! They keep me inspired! Maybe sometimes you can just leave a link to an article or a song that you like. God is just giving you a little test 😀
Your blogs are great! I can totally relate to what you’ve been feeling, in my own blogs lately inspiration has yet to fully strike or strike to the degree that I would want it to! It is always amazing to me that it is those posts that I don’t “feel” as much are ones that speak to someone’s heart – keep trusting that the Lord is using your words to touch someone’s heart!
No worries, Mary! Just continuously offer your writing abilities to God. He’ll give you plenty to do with your skillz one way or another. I draw the conclusion that he always wants to work through us in some way or another, even when we don’t recognize all the details he has planned.
Your posts are great! Don’t worry that they aren’t perfect- we’re all human 🙂 I often have too many ideas and not enough time to write on my blog. Or sometimes I know something has been written about hundreds of times before, so I don’t. I love the idea of posting on certain days of the week, and am thinking of starting it. Thanks for all your writing, I always find something great when I visit your blog!
